The reporter has reported on various sports for major publications around the globe. She worked for The Washington Post nearly a decade, covering Grand Slam Tennis and Grand Slam Football as well playing basketball in multiple Olympics. Nichols began a nine year stint at ESPN where she was awarded 2 Emmy Awards, and featured on many of ESPN's top shows like NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. Additionally, she was a sideline journalist for the Monday Night Football broadcasts. Her next move was CNN after which she joined Turner Sports. Unguarded: Rachel Nichols hosted her own show on CNN International. The show was watched by more than one billion viewers throughout the world. Nichols reported on NBA television broadcasts for TNT which included the regular season, playoffs and all-star broadcasts. Her work for TBS covered golf and baseball coverage, as well as Final Four broadcasts by CBS. The only woman to have been chosen from more than 200 nominees over the 42-year old history of this award.
